Man nabbed with heroin

A case was registered against him in 2023

The Crime Branch, Ludhiana, claimed to have nabbed a smuggler and recovered 100 gm of heroin from his possession. He was on the way to deliver heroin when a police team caught him and recovered the drug.

The suspect was identified as Sanjit, a resident of the city.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Detective) Deep Karan Singh, and in-charge, Crime Branch, inspector Beant Juneja issued a statement in this regard.

ACP Deep Karan Singh said acting on the directions of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, the police had launched an operation against smugglers as part of the special campaign launched by the state government, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ (war against drugs). In the operation, one drug smuggler was apprehended along with 100 gm of heroin and one motorcycle.

He said a police team, led by Inspector Beant Juneja, was conducting a checking near the Bus Stand chowk at Gill village. During the checking, the team apprehended Sanjit, along with his motorcycle, and recovered 100 gm of heroin from his possession. The peddler was on the way to deliver the drug to his clients. A case under various sections of the NDPS Act was registered against him.

The ACP said now, police remand of the smuggler would be obtained from court so that in futher interrogation, the entire drug supply chain could be busted and big suppliers involved in the racket be nabbed.

The suspect has a criminal history as a case was registered against him at the Sadar police station in 2023.
