Nirmaljit’s family members would secretly pass him food through the bars. The hostage situation ended when the police intervened, following orders from the High Court.

Inspector Balwinder Singh from Shimlapuri police station in Ludhiana led the rescue operation, freeing Nirmaljit and registering a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law, including wrongful confinement and criminal conspiracy.

The investigation revealed that Lakhbir Kaur, along with her accomplices, had been trying to take control of the property. The police have arrested the accused and are investigating the matter.

Nirmaljit had purchased the house from Pradeep Singh in 2003. After Pradeep’s death, his wife Lakhbir Kaur claimed ownership, leading to the dispute.
