Married man harassed by woman friend dies by suicide

A married man died by suicide at Abbupura village near Sidhwan Bet after he was harassed by his woman friend with whom he had been in a relationship for some time.

On the complaint of the deceased’s wife, a case was registered against the woman on the charges of abetment to suicide. The accused was identified as Simranjit Kaur, alias Seema, resident of a village near Mehatpur, Jalandhar.

The complainant, Amandeep Kaur, in a statement given to the police said her husband had an illicit relationship with Simranjit since the past three years. She said she became aware of the situation after checking her husband’s phone.

Kaur added that now her husband wanted to end the illicit relationship with Simranjit but she threatened to kill him if he avoided her. Amandeep said her husband was depressed because of Simranjit’s threats and it led him to commit suicide. The complainant demanded that the police arrest the accused woman as soon as possible.

Investigating officer ASI Sukhmandar Singh said after registering a case, further investigation was launched.
