Married woman dies by suicide in Phagwara
A married woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling in her in-laws house in Palahai Gate locality last night.
Station House Officer Amandeep Nahar who rushed to the spot after getting information said that Vikki, the husband of the deceased, Meenu told the police that his wife was alone at the time of the incident.
She committed suicide after locking her room from inside.
The police have registered a case and handed over the body to the family members after post-mortem examination conducted in the local civil hospital.
The cause of suicide could not be known yet. The cops are investigating the matter.
Body found drain
A body was found in a drain in Subhash Nagar locality of Phagwara.
The incident came to light when locals spotted the body lying in the drain and immediately informed the police. The police team arrived and recovered the body. The deceased was identified as Ishtkar, a tailor by profession.
The deceased was residing in Phagwara. SHO Amandeep Nahar said Ishtkar was into heavy drinking.
The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
