Taking action against illegal constructions, the Municipal Corporation (MC) demolished nine illegal under- construction industrial and commercial buildings on Thursday.

The structures were being constructed in Giaspura, Dhandari, Lohara, Kanganwal and other areas which fall under Zone C of the corporation.

Building branch officials of the MC Zone C said working on the directions of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, action was taken against illegal constructions on a regular basis.

The civic body had warned the owners of these illegal buildings in the past. But they still continued the constructions, following which a drive was conducted on Thursday and the illegal structures have been demolished. Further, the owners have been directed to start the works only after getting building plans approved from the civic body.
