Twenty ambulances, rich stocks of medicines, special wards for shifting patients from other areas and assignment of around 100 healthcare personnel were cited as steps taken for preparedness at healthcare centres at the local town and surrounding localities falling under Malerkotla and Ludhiana districts.

These steps are a gesture towards instructions given by the state body of the IMA in response to a call by Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh keeping in view the existing grim situation in flood-affected areas of the state.
