Miscreants attack jeweller, snatch gold chain

An incident of looting and vandalism has come to light in a jewellery store, ‘Dhir Di Hatti’, located on Kakowal Road here on Thursday. Around 15 miscreants targeted the shop.

The suspects not only ransacked the shop but also snatched a gold chain from the shop owner’s father and ran away. The shop was also attacked with stones and bricks.

The incident has been captured in CCTV cameras located nearby. In the footage, it can be clearly seen how over 12 miscreants entered the shop and committed the crime.

The owner of the shop said earlier some youths had come to buy something at the shop. When they were refused to show the item, the suspects brought other youths with them after some time. The miscreants entered the shop and started fighting. On opposing their move, he attacked the shop owner. While running, the assailants snatched the gold chain of his father and fled the scene.

The injured shopkeeper has been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana. The police have started an investigation in the matter.
