MLAs, Mayor inaugurate static compactors at vegetable market
Taking another step towards promoting cleanliness and hygiene, Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga and Mayor Inderjit Kaur inaugurated static compactors installed in the main vegetable market on Bahadurke road on Sunday.
The project includes two compactor sites established at a cost of around Rs 3.70 crore (including civil cost, the cost of compactors and hookloaders). Installation of static compactors will provide a huge relief to residents staying in nearby areas as it will put a stop to open dumping of garbage.
Also, it will ensure hygiene in the main vegetable market.
Recently, the civic body had also launched a major cleanliness drive in the vegetable market on the directions of the Mayor. She said the static compactors had been installed at various sites in the city to stop open dumping of garbage and it was a major step for ensuring cleanliness.
The officials concerned have been directed to ensure proper working of the compactor sites.
