MP Arora attends event on women empowerment
Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjeev Arora and his wife Sandhya Arora were chief guests at an event organised by the Lakshmi Ladies Club in collaboration with the Alive Artist Group held here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the organisers hosted the thought-provoking play, ‘Dhukhde kleere’, by renowned theatre artist Nirmal Rishi, a state awardee, on the club premises. The message of the play was to discourage immigration to other countries. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from theatre enthusiasts and club members.
Speaking on the occasion, Arora lauded the efforts of the organisers in bringing meaningful theatre to the community. He stated, “It is heartening to see such impactful storytelling that resonates deeply with the audience. Theatre has the power to inspire change and events like these are essential for cultural enrichment.”
Arora highlighted achievements of women in different fields. He said, “Rajni Bector is a member of this club and has contributed immensely towards women empowerment.” He gave special mention of women’s rights in the Constitution. He also presented copies of the Constitution to Rajni and president of the club Sherry Nayyar.
Some of the women also took up various issues they were facing in the city regarding sewerage, roads, etc. Arora immediately took up the matter with the officers concerned and assured them that these issues would be resolved soon.
Arora also apprised members of the steps taken in this regard. Later, he also interacted with the club members and the audience. He reiterated his promise of making Ludhiana a model city.
