MP, DC review pending works at Civil Hospital

Member of Rajya Sabha Sanjeev Arora along with Deputy Commissioner Jitender Jorwal, ADC Amarjit Bains, Civil Surgeon, SMO and other officials of the health and other departments, held a meeting on Tuesday to assess the progress of the renovation and upgrade works at the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.

Among completed works are OT with latest technology, new ophthalmology department, laying of new sewer lines, waterproofing, painting (internal & external), laying of pavers in parking areas, shed for waiting patients, rodent control, strengthening of boundary walls, tile work on all internal walls, bathroom repairs, availability of potable water, garbage dump removal, new signage and working of two elevators.

A deadline has been set for February-end to complete all remaining works such as relaying of internal roads, horticulture, cattle trap, renovation and beautification of entry gate, pavers in some parking areas, extended signage, play area for children, new fans and lights for the hospital and other pending works.

Arora said that increase in the workforce, if required, for timely completion of projects would be ensured and there will be no shortage of funds. All the works are being undertaken by Arora under the MPLAD funds and CSR scheme. He said not even a single patient should feel harassed due to the ongoing works.

The MP said the hospital’s entrance should be beautified besides undertaking other works. He laid stress on giving a green look to the hospital premises by carrying out horticulture works in parks and other locations. The Deputy Commissioner suggested installing swings for children coming with the patients and their attendants. He also discussed some emergency works to be carried out in the coming days. Arora immediately announced to release the required funds for some of the pending works. Hygiene should be maintained at all costs. he said.

Later, Arora along with DC and other officials took a round of the wards, emergency, blood centre, operation theatre (OT), dispensaries etc. He also took stock of completion for MCH wing which has been taken up by PHSC.
