MP lays stone for Rs 8.8-cr Rose Garden renovation project
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora laid the foundation stone for the beautification and renovation of Rose Garden here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “We are thrilled to announce a new project for upgrading and beautifying the Rose Garden, designed with new themes and architecture, spanning approximately 30 acres in the heart of Ludhiana.” He also said, “This Rs 8.80-crore project demonstrates our commitment to enhancing public spaces and providing a world-class recreational facility for our community.”
Highlighting the key features of the project, he said the park would have renovated civil infrastructure. A beautifully landscaped design would ensure a safe and accessible environment for all visitors, he added. The park would also have state-of-the-art lighting, he said, adding that it would be equipped with 250 ornamental poles for ambiance and enhanced security.
He said the park would have a diverse flora, boasting various rose beds with 13 types of roses, 50 types of traditional trees (over 1,000 in quantity), and various ornamental vines, ficus, and flower plants to enhance the pathways’ ambiance.
Regarding water conservation in the park, he said it would feature water conservation and sprinkler irrigation systems, along with rainwater harvesting to minimise the environmental impact. Arora said the park would also have recreational facilities, including a play area for kids, open gyms, and toilet blocks, catering to the diverse needs of the community.
He said the park would ultimately transform the heart of Ludhiana because it was considered an important place for boosting a healthy lifestyle. He said the park was like the “lungs” of Ludhiana, adding that it played a key role in improving the environment of the city, besides ensuring good health for the people.
He hoped that the completion of the project would ultimately transform the Rose Garden into a vibrant community hub, fostering social interaction, community engagement, and a deeper connection with nature.
Arora revealed that of the total cost of the project a major amount (nearly Rs 3.80 crore) would be spent on horticulture and an automatic irrigation system. He said the project would be completed within the next six months.
On public demand, he announced that sufficient arrangements would be made for pure drinking water in the park. He said cattle trap would also be installed to deal with stray dogs. He also assured that a library would be renovated for which a separate budget estimate would be prepared by the municipal corporation. He also announced that names of trees would be displayed for visitors.
On the occasion, the minister spent time with senior citizens and other visitors at the park. He interacted with people from all walks of life, who lauded Arora’s efforts for making Ludhiana the best city and assured him of their support to him in the coming byelections for Ludhiana (West)
