In the view of the National Nutrition Month, Department of Dietetics, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in association with Indian Association for Parenteral and Enternl Nutrition (IAPEN) Ludhiana chapter and Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) Punjab chapter conducted a session for the nursing staff on nutritional screening and assessment tool today at DMCH.
The speaker for the session was Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Home Science, Government College for Girls, Ludhiana. Dr GS Wander, principal, DMC&H emphasised the importance of the nutritional screening and noting its dual benefits. Dr Jaspreet Kaur said nutritional screening could be done by any healthcare professionals and that it served as a valuable resource in clinical practice, aiding in the identification of nutritional deficiencies or needs. Chief Dietitian Shaveta Batta also highlighted the significant role of nutritional assessment and timely intervention in reducing hospital stays and improving their overall well-being of patients by addressing nutritional issues early, ultimately contributing to more efficient recovery and better health outcomes.
