Navratri begins with fervour in city

Temples were tastefully decorated with lights, diyas and flowers

The nine-day Navratri festival started with religious fervour in the city.

Starting from early morning, devotees were seen buying various items such as coconuts, earthen pots, dupatta and flowers.

Kalash Sthapna was performed by the devotees at their houses. Many of them are also observing fast for nine days.

At a temple in Vishal Nagar, 108 jyotis (lamps) were lighted by priests and devotees to mark the occasion. Temples in the city are tastefully decorated with colourful lights, diyas and flowers, which are visited by devotees in large numbers. People are visiting markets to make purchases as these nine days are considered to be auspicious.

Restaurants are also offering special Navratra thalis to their customers who are observing fast.
