Ludhiana, August 1
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has ordered an investigation against Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) president Balbir Singh Rajewal of Rajewal village in Ludhiana and his two associates Parvinder Singh Chalaki and Gurbinder Singh.
The commission has taken cognisance of the complaint made by a Ludhiana resident, Surjit Singh Bhadour, against Rajewal and his associates, alleging caste discrimination against him in the media.
The commission has sought an action-taken report from the Chandigarh SSP within 15 days.
The complainant has made serious allegations against Rajewal of allegedly publicly defaming him and causing harm to his employment.
However, Rajewal and his associates have denied the allegations as false and baseless.
The complainant is posted as general manager at Cattle Feed Plant in Khanna, run by Milkfed. The complainant alleged that on July 19, Gurbinder Singh suspended the director of Milk Plant, Ludhiana, following which Parvinder Singh Chalaki, former chairman of Milk Plant, Mohali, along with Rajewal, held a press meet. In the press meet, he alleged that, they made false allegations against him and hatched a conspiracy of false defamation based on caste bias. He alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to defame him and harm his job by making false allegations against him publicly. The complainant has sought action against the suspects under the SC/ST Act for allegedly causing false defamation against him.— TNS
