One died, another feared drowned in Sutlej Canal

A youth of Baiyewal village in Koom Kalan died due to drowning in the Sutlej Canal and his companion was feared drowned when the duo, along with two other friends, went for swimming in the canal on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Shubpreet Singh (29) while Gurmeet Singh was feared drowned.

Gurmeet reportedly started drowning when in an effort to rescue him, Shubpreet Singh also lost control.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
