One of suspects belongs to notorious Puneet Bains gang

The probe into the firing incident occurred at AS College in Khanna, in which a peon and a girl student suffered bullet injuries, led to revelations that two of the suspects have criminal background as they are facing several criminal cases, including attempt to murder and possession of illegal weapons.
2 with criminal history, student among booked
- The suspects who were booked in the case have been identified as Jatin Monga, alias Trendy, a resident of Daresi, Ludhiana, Krishan Sahni, alias Laddu, of Sector 32, here, Lovepreet Singh, alias Lovi, a resident of Saloudi, Khanna, Ajay Singh, a student of the college and a resident of Rattanheri, Khanna, and an unidentified person.
- Among the suspects, Jatin and Krishan have a criminal past.
Of the two suspects, one is a member of the Puneet Bains gang and its kingpin is facing several cases, including of attempt to murder, robbery, loot and possession of illegal weapons.
The suspects who were booked in the case have been identified as Jatin Monga, alias Trendy, a resident of Daresi, Ludhiana, Krishan Sahni, alias Laddu, of Sector 32, here, Lovepreet Singh, alias Lovi, a resident of Saloudi, Khanna, Ajay Singh, a student of the college and a resident of Rattanheri, Khanna, and an unidentified person.
Among the suspects, Jatin and Krishan have a criminal past.
Jatin, who is a member of Puneet Bains gang, is facing several criminal cases.
As per information, Jatin was booked by the Police Division 3 on May 25, 2022, in a drug smuggling case. On July 17, 2022, he was again booked by the Police Division 7 on the charges of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. On September 7, 2022, Jain was booked on the charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy. The fourth FIR was registered on September 14, 2022, on the charges of the Arms Act and planning to commit a dacoity by the Police Division 3.
As per information available with The Tribune, Jatin came out on bail on May 21, 2024, as he was lodged in a Hoshiarpur Jail.
Krishan is also having a criminal past. On April 24, 2019, he was arrested by the Sadar Khanna police in a drug smuggling case. On October 9, 2019, the man was again arrested by the Moti Nagar police here on the charges of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. Krishan was again arrested on June 9, 2020, on attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. The fourth FIR was registered against Sahni on July 18, 2022, by the Haibowal police station. The fifth case was registered against him on September 2, 2022, by Police Division 7 on the charges of attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and under the Arms Act. Another case was registered against the suspect by the Salem Tabri police station on November 22, 2022, under the Arms Act. Krishan came out on bail from the Ludhiana Central jail on April 6, 2024.
Now, the police are investigating how the suspects managed to get illegal weapons inside the college. They are also working on leads to identify some illegal weapon suppliers from whom the suspects got illegal arms.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Khanna, Amneet Kondal, said raids were conducted at residences and other whereabouts of the suspects. The police have some clues about their locations. They would be arrested soon.
