Over 1,500 take part in Avacor 10K run

To raise awareness about a healthy lifestyle among the general populace, the Ludhiana Runners Club organised the 5th Avacor Ludhiana 10 km Run at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Sunday.

At 6.00 AM, despite the slight chill, 1,500 runners, across age groups, began the run with high spirits.

The run was flagged off by the PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, and the Registrar, Rishipal Singh.

Participants ran distances of 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Runners reaching the finish point were welcomed to the beats of drum, boosting their sense of achievement. Besides Punjabis, runners from Delhi and Mumbai also took part.

The event was supported by Avacor, Manipal, Signa, Avon Cycles, Heebee Coffee Private Limited, among others. The top three position holders received a cash prize, a bicycle from Avon Cycles, and a Heebee Coffee membership card. They were also honored with T-shirts, medals and certificates.

In the 10-km race, Veena Puri from Jalandhar won in the women’s category, Karan from Fazilka won the men’s race, and the youngest runner, five-year-old Tarush Chhabra, completed the 5-km run.

To boost enthusiasm, Mankirat from Fatal Fitness Hub conducted Zumba sessions for the participants, while Post Run the Curve organised various fun activities.

The organisers said that people’s health was fast deteriorating in this fast-paced life, and that all must dedicate at least an hour a day to work towards fitness
