A team of the Public Action Committee (PAC) on Thursday interacted with the locals at Sasrali Colony and monitored the progress of the work being undertaken. While resources have been boosted in recent days, several serious shortcomings were observed that continue to threaten lives and property.

Col CM Lakhanpal, a member of PAC, Mattewara, said, “Sandbags tightened with wire mesh have been placed, yet a 200-yard gap still exists, leaving the area highly vulnerable. At least three additional stretches need to be handed over to more contractors to close the gaps effectively.”

No dredging equipment is available to desilt the southern slope, where unchecked water pressure continues to threaten the bank. Work on the cunette has not reached the required depth to relieve pressure. A 10-member Army team with two boats and outboard motors was deployed, but this support was limited and not aligned with the urgent technical requirements. Heavy dredging equipment is needed, with safe ferrying arrangements to transport it to the site,” he said.
