Athletes from Patiala, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur came out triumphant in relay races in the 68th Punjab Schools Athletics Meet, organised by the Punjab Education Department here at Guru Nanak Stadium on Thursday.

Participants from Jalandhar won the top positions in the girls’ U-19 section, in 4x100 m relay race and also in the 4x400m relay race. Bathinda and Mansa secured the second and third position, respectively, in 4x400m relay race while Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran finished as first and second runners-up in the 4x100m relay race.

Likewise, Patiala boys (U-17) emerged winners in both 4x100m and 4x400m relay races. In the 4x100m relay race, Jalandhar finished second and Tarn Taran secured the third place while in 4x400m relay race, Ludhiana and Tarn Taran secured the second and third position, respectively.

Hoshiarpur boys (U-19) bagged the top position in 4x100m and 4x400m relay races. Ropar and Moga finished at second and third, respectively, in 4x100m relay race and in 4x400m relay race, Bathinda and Fatehgarh finished at the second and third position, respectively.

Boys (U-14): 600m race- Sahijpreet Singh (Muktsar) first and Raunak (Mohali) second; 200m race- Gagan (Fazilka) first and Jasmeet Singh (Pathankot) second.

Boys (U-17): 800m race- Arshdeep Singh (Sangrur) first and Jaskaranjeet Singh (Amritsar) second; 200m race- Jashanpreet Singh (Patiala) first and Jagjeet Singh (Gurdaspur) second; 110m hurdles- Manjot Singh (Bathinda) first and Rahul (Ludhiana) second.

Boys (U-19): 800m race- Arun Kethwar first and Jashdeep Singh second; 110m hurdles- Sukhandeep Singh first and Gurmeet Singh second; 200m race- Harmandeep Singh first and Arshdeep Singh second.

Girls (U-14): 600m race- Khushi Tyagi (Ludhiana) first and Mannat Kaur (Fatehgarh Sahib) second; 200m race- Manreet Kaur (Rup Nagar) first and Khushi Tyagi (Ludhiana) second; Discus throw- Joyel Singh (PIS, Muktsar) first and Simran (Hoshairpur) second.

Girls (U-17): 200m race- Soni Kaur (Hoshiarpur) first and Jashandeep Kaur (Tarn Taran) second; 800m race- Diya Rana (Rup Nagar) first and Rajbinder Kaur (Tarn Taran) second.

Girls (U-19): Javelin throw- Navreet Kaur (Sangrur) first and Nishita (Fazilka) second; Cross country race- Mehardeep Kaur (Patiala) first and Muskan (Gurdaspur) second.
