PAU bags Rs 55-L project to boost digital learning

In a landmark achievement, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, bagged a Rs 55-lakh project funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), aimed at transforming student development through digital learning and pedagogical innovation. Titled “Inclusive Student Advancement Framework for Academic and Skill Readiness through Digital and Pedagogical Interventions,” the initiative marks the PAU’s first ICAR-supported venture focused on student-centric growth.

Led by Dr Sandeep Jain, incharge of the University Counselling and Placement Guidance Cell, the project will introduce digital platform integrating training modules, performance-tracking systems and analytics-based mentoring to bridge the gap between classroom learning and career readiness.

Students welcomed the initiative. “This project feels like a game-changer,” said Simranjeet Kaur, a postgraduate student in agronomy. “We often struggle to connect theory with real-world applications. A structured digital framework will help us prepare better for competitive exams.” Another student, Amanpreet Singh said, “The mentoring aspect is what excites me the most. Having personalised guidance will boost our confidence and help us make informed career choices.”

The project is being implemented during the current academic session by a multidisciplinary team, including Dr Rupinder Kaur, Dr Jayesh Singh, Dr Devinder Tiwari, Dr Surabhi Mahajan, Dr Jyoti Jain, Dr Ritu Rani, Dr Rupeet Gill and Dr Preeti.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal congratulated Dr Jain and his team, stating, “This project aligns with the PAU’s vision of nurturing future-ready graduates equipped with both academic depth and practical skills.” Registrar Dr Rishi Pal Singh and Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr Manav Indra Singh Gill echoed the sentiment, emphasising the importance of digital transformation in higher education.
