PAU horticulture college hosts annual alumni meet
The College of Horticulture & Forestry, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organised its second annual alumni meet. The event saw a vibrant gathering filled with nostalgia, cultural performances and recognition of distinguished alumni.
Dr MIS Gill, president of the alumni association, welcomed the attendees, emphasising that this annual reunion was an important platform for the alumni to reconnect, exchange professional experiences and strengthen their ties with the PAU. He noted that the meet saw enthusiastic participation, particularly from the alumni settled abroad, which eagerly return each year to celebrate their connection with the university.
Dr APS Gill, college’s senior-most alumnus, was the chief guest, while Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of the PAU, presided over the function. Dr DS Cheema, a PAU board of management member, was also present.
One of the event’s key highlights was the felicitation of distinguished alumni, which had made remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
Among those honoured were Dr TS Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, Dr Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, Dean of the Institute of Agriculture, Gurdaspur, Dr Satnam Singh, Chief Conservator of Forests, and Dr Avtar Singh, Associate Dean of the Institute of Agriculture, Bathinda. Besides, faculty awards were presented to achievers in horticulture research, teaching and extension services, recognising their outstanding contributions to academia and industry.
The alumni meet also featured a cultural evening, showcasing traditional folk dances, musical performances and poetic recitations by students and alumni. The event also saw the release of ‘Hortalumnus’, the official alumni publication of the College of Horticulture & Forestry, along with four books authored by distinguished alumni.
The event concluded with a commitment to strengthen the alumni engagement and fostering collaborations for academic and industry-driven advancements in horticulture and forestry.
