The School of Business Studies at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, hosted an orientation programme for the new batch of BSc (Hons) Agriculture Business Management (ABM) students for the 2024-28 academic session.
Dr Ramandeep Singh, professor-cum-director, introduced students to the university’s various initiatives, including the Society for Advancement of Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities (SAASCA) and the Management Science Association (MSA). He emphasised the importance of emotional intelligence, discipline and time management for personal and academic success, encouraging students to take full responsibility for their actions.
The orientation featured a session where students introduced themselves, sharing their diverse educational backgrounds, hobbies and interests. Dr Ramandeep praised the new students for their varied talents and stressed the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities. He highlighted the significance of networking and building relationships with industry experts and alumni, underscoring the value of professional growth through connections.
A motivational segment led by second-year PhD students Nidhi and Aaina addressed the challenges of transitioning from school to university life. They provided practical strategies for managing academic pressures, social integration and time management. They encouraged students to engage in extracurricular activities, utilise academic support systems, and prioritise mental and physical health.
Dr Sandeep Kapur conducted a session on personality development, emphasising the importance of adaptability and the ‘10,000-hour rule’ for achieving mastery in any field. Dr Khushdeep Dharni discussed the extension and placement activities at PAU, highlighting opportunities for students in both the private and public sectors.
