The NSS unit of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology successfully organised its “Green Campus initiative” titled “Swachh Campus, Harit Campus”.
The programme aimed to enhance the campus environment and promote sustainability in line with the Swachh Bharat and Harit Bharat campaigns.
The event covered the entire college campus and roadside avenue trees, featuring a comprehensive cleanliness drive, the application of eco-friendly lime-white wash to tree trunks for aesthetics and pest protection, and an awareness session on waste segregation.
The initiative saw strong participation from students and faculty, successfully fostering a cleaner, greener campus environment.
NSS coordinator Dr Harmeet Singh Saralch stated, “The initiative is more than a cleanliness drive—it is a step towards instilling lifelong responsibility for environment among our students. By painting tree trunks with lime wash and segregating waste, we are blending traditional wisdom with modern sustainability.”
Dr Rupinder Pal Singh, Programme Officer, NSS, urged, “Let us join hands to make our campus a proud example of Swachh Bharat and Harit Bharat through sustained action and collective responsibility.”
A waste-segregation awareness session was conducted by Dr Gagandeep Kaur Nagra, which was followed by hands-on practice.
