PAU reiterates support for farmer-centric, green innovations at research council meet

The meeting was presided over by the PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal. In his address, Dr Gosal applauded the strong research-extension linkages at PAU and the progress made across crop improvement, plant protection, natural resource management, and farmer outreach. He emphasised that with climate change intensifying, PAU must continue to lead the nation in developing and promoting climate-resilient, water-efficient, and pest-resistant crop varieties along with environment-friendly farm inputs.
During the meeting, Dr Gurjeet Singh Mangat, Additional Director of Research, presented the action taken report and outlined the key research achievements for the period April to September. Dr Gurpreet Singh Makkar, In-charge Plant Clinic, presented the action taken report of the Extension Council, while Dr Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, detailed the extension accomplishments during the same period, including frontline demonstrations, Krishi Vigyan Kendras’ initiatives, field advisories, and digital outreach efforts.
The meeting was attended by special invitees, deans, directors from PAU and KVKs, who contributed valuable insights during the discussions. The session concluded with suggestions from farmers and attendees, ensuring their concerns and field-level experiences were incorporated into future planning.
