The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Punjab Agricultural University, and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana.

Hoisting the national flag at PAU, Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal saluted Mahatma Gandhi; martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhash Chandra Bose; and several others who fought relentlessly against the oppression of the British and sacrificed their lives for Independence. “No sacrifice should go in vain be it of freedom fighters who freed this country from the clutches of the British, educationists who produced intelligentsia in different domains, scientists who brought in diverse revolutions with the development of technologies and farmers who made the nation food secure,” said the VC.

At GADVASU, Vice-Chancellor Jatinder Paul Singh Gill hoisted the flag and paid homage to the freedom fighters. He remembered the patriots and heroes who had sacrificed their lives for freedom. He said that we should never forget such warriors. The university authorities honoured the non-teaching staff for their administrative contributions, achievements and exemplary works.
