Ludhiana, July 12
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised a plantation drive in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Cooperative Society, Jassar, at Jassar village. Over 25 farmers, agricultural development officers, society officials and scientists of the university took part in the drive.
Dr Kuldeep Singh, head, Department of Extension Education, highlighted the need for enhanced green cover, enlisting the benefits derived from plants. He said planting saplings aside, it was crucial to nurture the plants.
Gurmeet Dhaliwal, Agricultural Extension Officer, informed the gathering about the steps taken by the department in promoting the drive.
Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist, highlighted the activities of the skill development centre and updated the farmers about the upcoming trainings to be organised by the centre. He also apprised the young farmers of the three-month integrated crop production training programme, set to begin on August 1.
