A team of the Punjab Development Commission (PDC), led by Vaibhav Maheshwari, is in the city to take stock of the situation of the Buddha Nullah. On Thursday, the PDC team began a field inspection from the Koomkalan area, where the nullah originates, and visited various sites of the dariya to take samples. MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Ludhiana PPCB Chief Engineer RK Ratra, Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, Executive Engineer Parshotam Singh, and other officials of the PPCB, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Drainage Department etc accompanied the PDC team.

Later, the PDC team visited the 225 MLD Jamalpur sewage treatment plant (STP) and held meetings with the representatives of the small and large dyeing industries around. Office-bearers of the SPVs operating dyeing industry CETPs were also present in the meeting. The team also visited a gaushala intermediate pumping station (IPS) site, where a temporary pumping station has been established under the ‘Kar Sewa,’ led by Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, to divert sewage towards Jamalpur STP. They also visited the common effluent treatment plant (operated by a private company, JBR Technologies) for treating the wastewater of the electroplating industry.
