Police enlist educational, social organisations to tackle drug abuse
The police claimed to have enlisted social, religious and educational organisations in support of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, a public movement launched against drug abuse.
DSP (Special) Malerkotla Ranjit Singh Bains and Ludhiana DSP (Rural) Inderjit Singh Boparai acknowledged the positive response from various organisations following an appeal by SSP Gagan Ajit Singh and Dr Ankur Gupta. “They have come forward to spread awareness by organising joint events in their respective localities,” they said.
“Having received instructions from our seniors, we coordinated with some organisations and persuaded them to associate with the campaign launched by DGP Gaurav Yadav,” said Bains and Boparai, noting that inaugural functions were held at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Bhogiwal, and at Lohgarh village on Tuesday.
Responding to the SSP’s call, students of Bhogiwal village announced they would act as ambassadors of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ and educate others on the dangers of drug abuse.
Constituents, including office-bearers and activists of host organisations, are stepping forward to act as ambassadors of the campaign, raising awareness in their respective areas about the causes and consequences of drug abuse.
The SSPs expressed appreciation for the involvement of regional organisations.
