Police launch ‘Walk a Talk’ initiative

In an effort to ensure the safety and security of residents, the Commissioner of police, Swapan Sharma, carried out ‘Walk a Talk’ initiative here last evening. This initiative aimed at offering residents a platform to voice their concerns.

The initiative was conducted between 7.00 and 9.00 pm, focused on crowded areas like Rakh Baag, Kips Market and Dugri Market. Spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police, the initiative was a collaborative effort with local Gos and SHOs, along with field media teams (FMT).

The objectives of the drive were to provide a platform to citizens to voice their concerns, complaints and suggestions directly before the police, to foster transparency and improve the relationship between the police and the public, to find solutions to local issues, including crime, traffic, drug abuse or nuisance and to educate the public about laws, safety measures, crime prevention and the role of the police.

Sharma said such sessions would help the police improve their services and effectiveness in dealing with crime and community issues could also be taken up. It will involve the community in crime detection and prevention by promoting the neighbourhood watch and community vigilance.

The key outcomes of the drive were to focus on improving trust, transparency and collaboration between the police and the community. To underscore the Commissionerate’s unwavering commitment to maintaining public safety. The initiative not only addressed immediate concerns but also reinforced the message that safety was a collective responsibility.

The Commissionerate would continue to undertake proactive measures and special drives and initiatives aimed at enhancing the security of particularly children and women, said officials. The community can expect further initiatives that ensure the well-being of all citizens and create a safer, more disciplined environment

for everyone.

Officials said that in the coming months, Ludhiana ‘s commitment to public safety will remain a top priority, as it works to foster a secure and law-abiding environment for all its residents.
