In a focused effort to ensure safety and security, the Commissionerate Police, Ludhiana, launched a comprehensive initiative, ‘Walk a Talk’, on Friday evening. It was executed with intention to know about the well-being of residents of the city.
It was conducted between 6:30 pm and 9 pm, focusing on crowded public areas such as Rose Garden and Middha Chowk. Spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Swapan Sharma, the initiative was a collaborative effort involving police officers, SHOs and the field media team (FMT).
Notably, during a similar outreach effort held on May 15, the CP had personally visited key public spots, including Rakh Bagh, Kipps Market and Dugri Market and Sun View Enclave, to interact with citizens and assess public safety conditions first-hand.
Sharma while describing objectives of the initiative said ‘Walk a Talk’ would ensure to provide a platform to residents to voice their concerns, complaints and suggestions directly to the police. It would also foster transparency and improve the relationship between the police and the public.
He said it would lead to collaborative problem-solving by jointly finding solutions to local issues such as crime, traffic, drug abuse or nuisance behaviour. It was organised to aware the public of laws, safety measures, crime prevention and the role of the police and receive feedback on police conduct, services and effectiveness in dealing with crime and community issues.
He maintained that the police wanted to involve the community in crime detection and prevention by promoting neighborhood watch and community vigilance and would surely encourage public participation in maintaining law and order.
“The initiative underscores the Police Commissionerate’s unwavering commitment to maintain public safety. The initiative not only addressed immediate concerns but also reinforced the message that safety is a collective responsibility,” the Commissioner of Police held.
He asserted that the commissionerate would continue to undertake proactive measures and special drives and initiatives aimed at enhancing the security of residents, particularly children and women. The community could expect further initiatives that ensure the well-being of all citizens and create a safer and more disciplined environment for everyone.
In coming months, Ludhiana ‘s commitment to public safety will remain a top priority as efforts would be made to foster a secure and law-abiding environment for all its residents.
