The Khanna police have registered a fresh FIR against 10 accused in a scam involving an organised gang duping over 23,000 investors across the country of over Rs 170 crore by making them invest in a ponzi scam in the name of an alleged fake firm ‘Generation of Organic Farming’.
This is reportedly the fifth case registered by the police in this scam. According to the police, this new case was registered on a complaint from Dr Manpreet Singh, a resident of Friends Colony, Zirakpur. The complainant stated that he had been defrauded of Rs 29.70 lakh. The 10 suspects belong to Punjab and Haryana.
Police officials said that the firm lured innocent people by promising 8 per cent monthly returns on investments — claiming that money invested in the firm would double over 25 months. They deceived investors by saying the firm was engaged in the organic products business, including supplying vermicompost manure and developing organic farming projects.
Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh confirmed on Friday that the fresh case was registered in the ponzi scam. It is learnt that several complaints against the suspects were already under investigation. A Special Investigation Team had been formed for the case by Khanna SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav.
