Field Ganj is among eight key roads identified by Ludhiana police for complete encroachment removal to streamline movement and emergency access.

ADCP (Traffic) Gurpreet Kaur Purewal and MC officials appealed to shopkeepers and vendors to operate within yellow-marked boundaries or face strict action.

MLA Central Ashok Prashar said, “Encroachments have led to severe traffic jams. These jams waste time, fuel and pose risks to lives, especially since this road leads to Civil Hospital and CMC Hospital. Ambulances often get stuck.”

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma had taken note of the issue, following which a joint drive was ordered. The drive was conducted under the direction of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, with participation from Assistant Commissioner Gurpal Singh and tehbazaari wing officials.

Prashar clarified, “We are not against vendors, but encroachments on road portions cannot be tolerated.”
