Poll observer takes charge

To ensure peaceful, fair and transparent panchayat elections, the State Election Commission has appointed Arvinder Pal Singh Sandhu, IAS officer, as observer for Ludhiana district. He assumed the charge here on Friday.

Later, the observer held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, ADC Harjinder Singh and senior officials from the police administration.

He also checked the nomination exercise undertaken on the last day of filing papers at various places in the district.
