National Remote Sensing and National Space Day was celebrated at the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), Ludhiana, by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Ludhiana Chapter (ISRS-LC).
Participants included students from various schools, faculty and students of PAU and staff of PRSC. Dr Brijendra Pateriya, director, PRSC, addressed the gathering, highlighting the usefulness of remote sensing technology through practical examples. He also noted that an essay and drawing competition on space technology had been organised to engage children in scientific learning. Dr Ajay Mathur, secretary, ISRS-LC, delivered a lecture on the basics of remote sensing and its applications. Dr Sahoo welcomed the chief guest, Dr Anup Das, NISAR team lead, Space Applications Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad, who delivered a well-received lecture on “NISAR Satellite Data and its Applications”. Dr Harpinder Singh also shared his experiences on monitoring crop residue burning using Remote Sensing and GIS.
