PSEB examinations for classes VIII, XII begin

Students of classes VIII and XII, studying in schools affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), sat for their first exam today. The students of Class VIII appeared for the English paper, while those of Class XII took their home science exam. A total of 311 centres were designated in the Ludhiana district by the department for the purpose of these exams.

Sources at the Education Department here, said 45,162 students had got themselves registered for the Class VIII board exam in the district, while for Class X 39,235 had been registered and for Class 12, there were a total of 33,409 registrations.

Students of Class XII, who sat for their home science examination found the question paper easy. Akriti, a Class XII student, said the questions came from the syllabus and most students were able to take the exam calmly. While examinations for classes VIII and XII have begun, those for Class X will commence on March 10.

Across Punjab, about 8.82 lakh students are appearing for the Board examinations conducted by the PSEB this year across total 2,579 centres in Punjab.

Sources said a list of flying squad teams had also been received by the department and accordingly, teams would start visiting centres in the coming days to ensure that no unfair means were adopted while conducting the exams.
