Punjab delivered a dominant performance on the second day of the 68th National School Games, securing comfortable victories across all four sports disciplines. The games, organised by the Punjab Education Department under the School Games Federation of India, are taking place at three venues in the state.
In karate, Punjab athletes showcased their supremacy. At BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Arman of Punjab clinched the gold in the boys’ U-14 below 25kg weight category. Veer Sachin Dhole of Maharashtra took second place, while Satyajith Debnath of West Bengal and Aaryan from Vidya Bharti shared third place. In the under 35kg category, Punjab’s Gambhir won gold, with Andhra Pradesh’s Kanchi Hareesh finishing second. Tamil Nadu’s Umanush and West Bengal’s Himanshu Barath secured third positions. Samarth Malhotra of Punjab triumphed in the below 55kg category, while Arjun Murli of Tamil Nadu finished as runners-up. Sujan Singh (Tamil Nadu) and Sahil (Delhi) shared third place.
In judo, Punjab continued its dominance. In the boys’ U-19 category, Sahil (below 50kg) and Veer (above 80kg), both from Punjab, won gold medals. Kanwalpreet Kaur of Punjab secured the gold in the girls’ below 70kg weight category.
In handball, the Punjab boys’ U-19 team displayed excellent coordination to defeat Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) 43-10 and later triumphed over Chandigarh 36-13. The Punjab girls’ U-19 team also impressed, beating Madhya Pradesh 43-17. In netball, Punjab’s U-17 girls started strong with a convincing 26-6 win over Jammu and Kashmir.
In the handball (girls U-19) event Maharashtra beat Chhattisgarh 34-11, CBSE beat Jharkhand 19-6, Delhi beat Telangana 22-21, Kerala beat IPSC 21-1, and Gujarat beat Uttarakhand 21-19.
In the boys U-19 category Rajasthan beat Jammu and Kashmir 39-24, Madhya Pradesh beat IPSC 32-16, Maharashtra beat Bihar 28-23, Kerala beat West Bengal 31-18, Haryana beat Puducherry 31-8, Tamil Nadu beat Karnataka 35-30, and Rajasthan beat CBSE 39-36.
In netball (boys U-17) event, Jharkhand beat Puducherry 12-5, Tamil Nadu beat Haryana 28-13, Karnataka beat Gujarat 31-15, DAV beat Telangana 22-20, Assam beat CBSEWSO 25-10, IPSC beat Andhra Pradesh 22-19, Puducherry beat Odisha 18-10, Chhattisgarh beat Puducherry 35-25, Tamil Nadu beat Telangana 31-23 , and Bihar beat Jammu and Kashmir 23-9. In the girls U-17 category Punjab beat Delhi 15-8, Delhi beat Gujarat 19-9, Haryana beat Chandigarh 27-16, Assam beat CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSEWEO) 22-0, Chhattisgarh beat Jammu and Kashmir 18-3, Odisha beat Maharashtra 18-16, IPSC beat CBSEWSO 16-2, Goa beat Telangana 22-21, Haryana beat Rajasthan 31-16, Bihar beat Andhra Pradesh 23-11, Puducherry beat Madhya Pradesh 25-18, Haryana beat Karnataka 20-10, Chhattisgarh beat Rajasthan 24-18, and Karnataka beat Chandigarh 17-15.
