Punjab Dy Speaker meets senior PAU officials

For the advancement of the Kandi region, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Deputy Speaker Vidhan Sabha, met with the senior officials of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) during his visit to the Ludhiana campus today.

“Since agriculture is totally dependent on climate, I must appreciate the remarkable work done by the PAU’s Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri, for the farming community of the Kandi area,” Rouri said, while interacting with Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor, PAU, and other officials of the university. Calling the constructive development of the Kandi belt a priority, the Deputy Speaker sought suggestions concerning crop residue management, horticulture development, ornamental plantation and stray cattle management in the sub-mountainous region. The cultivation of desi mangoes had been a tradition with the farmers of the Kandi area and this tradition must move forward on scientific lines, he urged the scientific fraternity.

Dr Gosal sought the intervention of the state government in enhancing the fertility of the Kandi area and ensuring the land is levelled (stone-free).
