Punjab youth need platform to exhibit talent, says Sandhwan at athletics meet

The two-day Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) regional athletics meet for Girls (U-14, 17 and 19), being organised by Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, began at Guru Nanak Stadium, here on Saturday.

In the U-14 category, Kuhushmeet Kaur of Mai Bhago International School, Usma (Amritsar and Tarn Taran zone) emerged victorious in the 200m race and Gurasis Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School, Majitha, also from Amritsar and Tarn Taran zone won the 600m race.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker, declared the meet open. Speaking on this occasion, Sandhwan stated that the Punjab Government is committed to restoring the pristine glory of sports and concerted efforts were already underway in this direction.

“The youth of Punjab have a lot of talent but they need a platform and sports events such as Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, which will give them a chance to exhibit their talent,” he said.
