Punjabi poet’s legacy celebrated on birth anniv
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) commemorated the birth anniversary of legendary poet and litterateur Padma Shri Dr Surjit Patar with an event titled ‘Lafzan Di Dargah’. Presiding over the occasion, PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal paid tribute to Dr Patar. “Dr Patar’s words will forever resonate in our hearts. His literary genius has left an indelible mark on the world,” said Dr Gosal. He also highlighted the establishment of the Surjit Patar Chair at the university.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director of Students’ Welfare, expressed pride in the PAU’s association with Dr Patar. Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, lauded his writings as timeless guides for humanity. Chief guest Dr Jagtar Dhiman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Guru Kashi University, described Dr Patar as not only a great poet but also a good human being.
Secretary of the Punjabi Sahit Academy, Dr Gulzar Pandher, along with eminent personalities, including Dr Jagdish Kaur and Colonel Jasjit Singh Gill, shared their reflections on Dr Patar’s literary brilliance. The students and faculty of PAU recited Dr Patar’s works, leaving the audience deeply moved.
