The Association of United College Teachers (AUCT), Punjab and Chandigarh, questioned the lack of implementation of Panjab University’s letter which directed colleges to implement the 7th Pay Commission as per UGC guidelines within 21 days. AUCT spokesperson Tarun Ghai said the university issued directions in December 2023 to non-government colleges to provide the revised pay scale benefits. The university also warned that “failure to comply would lead to appropriate action.” Ghai said no college under private management had implemented the scale. AUCT general secretary Jaspal Singh urged the VC to initiate action against such colleges.
