Raikot residents pledge to combat plastic pollution
In a concerted effort to protect the environment, office bearers and activists from constitutional bodies and social organisations in Raikot have pledged to minimise the use of single-use plastics and adopt solid waste management system. The initiative comes as part of a campaign to reduce environmental deterioration.
The pledge was made in response to a call from the local body department, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Ludhiana, Amarjit Bains. The event was held on Wednesday, with participants taking an oath to support the cause.
Sanitary Inspector of the Municipal Council, Harpreet Singh, reported that senior officials, including ADC (UD) Bains and Executive Officer Amandeep Singh, organised the event to raise awareness about the need for proactive measures to follow the solid waste management guidelines issued under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
These guidelines aim to promote cleaner environments through standard waste management practices.
