Acting on the complaint of reporter Yuvam Beri, a resident of Hargobind Nagar, the police division No. 2 registered a case against the accused identified as Harry Jandu, his father and five others.

Yuvam said he was working as a reporter for a Ludhiana-based channel. On October 31, he was talking to corporation inspector Sunil Kumar on the phone while reporting about illegally parked vehicles on the road outside Vipan Dhaba, Janakpuri, in front of Modern Car Wash. Around that time, Harry, his father, their workers and some other persons came and started arguing with him. They allegedly tried to stop him from reporting and abused him amid allegations that he was blackmailing them.

“Despite the issue, I continued with the coverage, but the accused didn’t budge and attacked me. They snatched my phone, channel’s mic and camera from my assistant. They took out the memory card from it and threw it and also deleted the news from the camera. Following this, the accused beat me up and threatened me,” revealed Beri.

The victim alleged he had also mentioned in his complaint that the assailants had made the video, but the police didn’t add sections under the IT Act.
