The organisers include social and religious bodies besides individuals wanting to hold family functions on birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

While the residents had woken up under the fear of escalation of tension between India and Pakistan on Saturday, developments taking place in the afternoon following US President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding agreement on ceasefire between the two warring countries, prompted them (residents) to consider the resumption of celebrations in routine.

Bhoj Raj Sharma, a caterer of Gandhi Chowk area, acknowledged that the residents who had earlier cancelled some functions on the pretext of war-like circumstances, had now started approaching for booking new dates at the same or different venues.

Following a similar trend, a family in the Jandali road area had now decided to continue celebrating the wedding party till late at night, whereas earlier, the guests were asked to come in the afternoon.

“The hosts had to change the schedule thrice as it was a night party when planned, and had to be changed to afternoon celebrations keeping in view the blackouts, and now finally, it will start in the afternoon and continue till late at night today,” said a guest.
