Restrict entry of tippers on Rahon Road: Residents
The residents of villages situated along Rahon Road are perturbed over tippers frequenting the route.
The road was built in 2023 after requests to the government and now it was getting damaged due to the flow of heavy traffic, especially loaded trucks, said residents. They demanded a separate route be made for these tippers. Farmers also submitted a memorandum
to the Deputy Commissioner regarding the matter this morning.
“These tipper, containing crushed stones come from Ropar and pass through this road to go towards their destination and this is causing a lot of harm to the road. The entry of the tippers on this road should be banned. These should go from the GT road,” said Dilbagh Singh, president Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor Union.
If the entry of these trucks cannot be banned then their entry should be restricted and timings should be fixed, he added. These should be not be allowed to ply on this road between 7 am to 10 am
in the morning, and from
7 pm to 10 pm in
the evening.
“Morning time is very busy as school and office-goers take the route and these tippers cause traffic jams and sometimes result in accidents also. In the evening also, people are coming back from work and thus a huge traffic jam is caused. If these can’t be banned completely then timings should
be fixed at least,”
he added.
