The Focal Point police on Tuesday registered a case against a retired assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and the then head constable (now ASI) for misplacing case files.

They have been identified as the then head constable Sandeep Kumar (now ASI) posted as Nayab Court in Ludhiana Court Complex and a retired ASI, Bhupinder Singh, then posted at the Focal Point police station.

Investigating officer ASI Surjit Kumar said a case was registered after inquiry and further probe was launched. Both of them faced action for misplacing the files pertaining to a theft case.

Notably, after inquiry in the case by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), a probe report was sent for approval for the registration of a case to the office of DCP (Rural), who further sent the inquiry report to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, recommending the registration of a case.
