Malerkotla, July 17
The Punjab Revenue Officers Association has called upon its members to pull up their socks ahead of monsoon to deal with any exigency arising due to excessive downpour during coming days.
The association has also apprised the members of the outcome of the meeting held with senior functionaries of the Revenue Department led by Revenue Minister Braham Shankar Jimpa and Revenue Financial Commissioner at Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The state president of the association, Sukhcharan Singh Channi, said revenue officers associated with the PROA had been asked to reciprocate the gesture shown by the minister by accepting a majority of long-pending demands of the association during a meeting held on Tuesday.
“As we have assured the government that increased efficiency at revenue offices of the state after implementation of demands would improve the popularity and image of the Aam Aadmi Party Government, it is our turn now to prove our claim,” said Channi, appreciating that members of the association had assured to be extra diligent during the monsoon ahead.
Channi argued that the image of the AAP was bound to improve once the long-pending problems of the association related with working conditions and sense of security are resolved and the output at all revenue offices improves further.
Issuance of identity cards, increment at old grade, confirmation of regular promotion, preparation of panel for promotion as PCS, security arrangement at offices and provision of vehicles were cited as demands which were said to be accepted in principle with assurance to be implemented by respective departments. The Chief Minister’s nod was required for providing vehicles for the revenue officers, said Channi.
Showing satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting, Channi said efforts would be made to get the remaining demands accepted. “While we will have to pursue further for getting accepted demands implemented in letter and spirit, efforts will be continued to get remaining demands accepted,” said Channi.
