Rhythm, heritage mark Day-3 of youth festival

The third day of the 66th Panjab University Inter-Zonal Youth Festival at AS College was dominated by the performances of group and classical dances.

BJP Punjab’s acting president and Pathankot MLA Ashwani Sharma was the chief guest at the event. In the evening session, former Rajya Sabha member Shamsher Singh Dullo was the chief guest.

Group dance and folk orchestra events were presented at the college’s main hall, while skit, mimicry, mime and bhand were presented at seminar hall 1. Classical dance competitions were held on Sitar Stage. Competitions, including folk instruments, debate and elocution were held at the Veena Stage, while off-stage heritage competitions, including phulkari, bagh, pakhi designing, mehendi, crochet work, dasuti and knitting took place in the commerce block. These competitions were adjudged by experts in their respective fields.

In kavishri, Dev Samaj College for Women, Chandigarh, got the first prize; Guru Nanak College, Doraha, came second; and A S College, Khanna, got the third prize. In guddian patole-making, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, won; followed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh College, Malout and Dashmesh Girls College, Badal.
