Rotary, political leaders condemn Pahalgam attack
As the country mourns the loss of innocent lives in Tuesday’s terrorist attack, a wave of solidarity is sweeping across social, political and religious fronts. While community groups continue to hold memorial events, international service organisations have stepped up efforts to garner global denunciation of terrorism.
Rotary International District 3090’s Chief Advisor, Amjad Ali, said office bearers from over 125 Rotary units across Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan have pledged to raise awareness about the causes and consequences of spreading hatred based on caste, creed and religion.
District Governor, Dr Sandeep Chauhan, voiced the collective anguish of the global service community over the “heinous homicide” in Pahalgam. “Those who kill innocent people cannot be called human beings — they are worse than beasts,” he stated, adding Rotary has approached its international headquarters to push for increased diplomatic action to counter terrorism on a global scale.
