Students of Ryan International School, along with those from Sacred Heart convent School, Sarabha Nagar, and Police DAV School, stamped their superiority by winning the top positions in the soft tennis competition for boys in the U-19, 17 and 14 categories, respectively, in the ongoing 69th Ludhiana District Schools Games, being organised by the Punjab Education Department at different venues across the district on Thursday.
At Unique Tennis Academy, Hambran Road, in the boys U-14 section, the second and third positions were bagged by BCM School, Basant City and Sacred Heart School, BRS Nagar, respectively, and in the U-17 category, Delhi Public School secured second position and Amrit Indo Canadian Academy finished at second and third place, respectively.
In the boys U-19 section, Delhi Public School and DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, secured the second and third positions, respectively.
In swimming, at the PAU pool, in the girls U-14 group, Vridhi Kohli of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, came out victorious in the 100-m backstroke event, while Rihana Kaur Nagra of Sacred Heart School, Samrala, was runners-up and Mishika of Shamrock Christian Senior Secondary School had to be content with the third position.
Samaira Grewal of Delhi Public School emerged winner in the 100-m freestyle event in the same age group, followed by Vridhi Kohhli and Japnoor Kaur of Nankana Sahib Public School at the second and third spots, respectively.
In the girls U-17 section, Jaleen of KVM School proved too good for her opponents and won top position in 100-m backstroke event. Harsimrat Kaur of Jesus Sacred Heart School finished at second place and Divya of Green Land School finished at third place.
In kurash, at School of Eminence, Sekewal village, in the boys U-17 category, Mihir Malhotra of BVM School came out triumphant in the below 40kg weight section, while Jodhvir Singh of SOE, Sekhewal and Vinod Kumar of Government High School, Jamalpur finished as first and second runner-up, respectively.
In below 45kg weight category, Arshdeep Singh of Government Senior Secondary Multipurpose School, Devan of SOE, Sekhewal and Jatinder Kaushik of Government School, Engine Shed branch secured first three positions.
In football, at Government Senior Secondary School ground, Dakha, in the girls U-14 section, Rara Sahib zone emerged victorious and Samrala zone secured second position while Kila Raipur zone finished at third place.
