Sanjana, Jasmeen shine at athletics meet
Sanjana Yadav, a BA-II student and Jasmeen, a BCA-II student, stole the limelight at the 55th Annual Athletics Meet of SDP College for Women, on Tuesday. They were recognised for their performances, with Sanjana being named the best athlete and Jasmeen the best player of the event.
Sanjana triumphed in the 100m sprint and also secured top positions in the 200m and 400m races, showcasing her versatility and speed. Jasmeen, on the other hand, excelled in the javelin throw, securing the top spot, while also finishing second in both the 50m slow cycling and 200m fast cycling competitions.
Mayor and college alumna, Inderjit Kaur was the chief guest at the inaugural function. She was welcomed by principal Neetu Handa and members of the managing committee, including Balraj Kumar Bhasin, Lekh Raj Arora, Vijay Inder Gupta, Dhai Shah Singla and Omkar Singla.
In the long jump event, Amandeep Kaur secured first place, followed by Rani Kumar in second and Afsana in third. In the high jump, Surbhi claimed first place, Neha finished second and Amandeep Kaur took third. In the discus throw, Pinky emerged victorious, with Sangeeta in second and Vaishnavi in third. Jasmeen dominated the javelin throw, winning first place, while Gudiya and Preeti secured second and third places, respectively.
In the 100m race, Sanjana Yadav took the top spot, with Neha finishing second and Suhani in third. The sack race saw Minaj Parwin winning first place, Kajal Yadav securing second and Aaniya finishing in third. The three-legged race was won by Sonam and Preeti Rani, followed by Afsana and Khushi in second place and Sushma and Ranjana in third. In the slow cycling event, Tamanna claimed first place, Jasmeen came second and Priyanka took third. The fast cycling event saw Sneha finishing first, Jasmeen in second and Simran in third.
In the 200m race, Sanjana Yadav again claimed first place, with Yashna securing second and Neha in third. The 400m race was won by Sanjana, with Amandeep finishing second and Reshma coming third.
In the teachers’ tug-of-war, the winning team included Gunjan Mittal, Sampan, Anju, Reena Rani, Sukhdeep Kaur, Ruchi, Reema, Ridhi, Sunidhi, Radhika Sharma and Khushboo.
